{Menswear Monday} Red Shoes at The Red Inn

stubbs & wooton shoes Rebecca and I have our two-year anniversary coming up, but we’re not going to make it back up to Cape Cod to celebrate, so we hit up our favorite restaurant in Provincetown, The Red Inn (also the site of our wedding), recently to have a good meal and reminisce about everything that’s happened over the past two years. And what better place to break in my new loafers from Stubbs & Wootton!

I had wanted a pair of loafers/slippers from Stubbs for a while, but I had trouble finding the right pair for me. Then I came across this red buffalo check number from Black Fleece, the line Thom Browne designs for Brooks Brothers. I’m really into plaids, so I liked them right away. Also, I think they’ll work well for pretty much all season. They’re pretty light with a really low vamp, so they’re a summery shoe when worn without stocks, but the pattern and the fact that they’re wool make them appropriate for colder months when worn with socks…grey, navy, yellow; I’m looking forward to experimenting now that we’re into October.

And in terms of what to wear them with? Well, the possibilities are almost endless. With jeans, like in these pictures, or with chinos or cords. With shorts and no socks in the summer months. Even with a suit to take the corporate polish off when heading out for a night on the town. I’m sure I’ll be showing more outfits featuring these bad boys in the future.
