{Reading Corner} The Bookstore

Deborah Meyler The Bookstore

I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately and always have been a pretty avid reader, both fiction and non-fiction. That being said, I’m always scouring blogs for recommendations and thought I’d start off some of my own.

For this inaugural post I’m actually picking a book that my mother-in-law lent me last summer, The Bookstore. The post-it in was a little note in from her was pretty spot on. “Not the best, but entertaining”.

While Esme is an interesting character, has challenges thrown her way and seems to rise above them she kind of  seems a little pathetic at the strings of the main man in her life. On again, off again, I love you, let’s get married, let’s not. Peace out!

One redeeming quality is the characters in the bookstore. I love them and their stories. It really makes me want to have a local bookstore where I hang out with them and chat. Small town life in NYC is pretty rare and they seem to have found it.

Read it if you’re looking for something entertaining and for a time filler, but I wouldn’t seek it out.
