Postcards from Isle of Skye

Today we’re going to hold off on my typical Weekend Whimsy because I really want to share all of our Scotland trip with you and it’ll be weeks until we get through them at the pace I’ve been going. So hop to!

These pics are from our day on Isle of Skye. We drove from Torridon and decided to add Fairy Pools to our itinerary because a woman working at Torridon said she’d heard they were amazing. She was right! The hike was gorgeous, the waterfalls amazing and of course the scenery was utterly breathtaking. Since we were already down that way, a quick nip into Talisker, which I’d recommend skipping if you’re seeing other distilleries, and up to Dunvegan Castle for our historic fix of the day. If you do the drive on the west coast, towards the north end, the cliffs are magnificent and I’m really bummed I didn’t get any pictures. The gardens at Dunvegan were extensive and I’d really say we should have spent more time in them, but we did the tour of the castle which was full of fun historic tidbits. Beware that the cafe sells out of food towards the end of the day, so don’t rely on that for nourishment like we did.

Rattled, and yes I say rattled because the roads were narrow and windy with lots of blind turns and summits, towards our hotel in Cuillin Hills where we enjoyed a drink outside overlooking Portree Bay and the cute, brightly painted buildings in the town below.
