What I’ve Read Lately

what-I've-read-lately

Dragonfly in Amber // I’m obsessed with this series. Ever since I read the first book, which I really wish I could remember how I ended up picking it up, I’ve been a total convert. I’ve read the first book twice, this one only once because I took it out of the library, and the third book and fourth book twice too. This is the second book in the Outlander series and is so so good. I don’t want to give anything away, but if you like historical fiction, romance, intrigue and basically anything good, then this series is for you. I will warn you though, don’t ruin it and watch the show first. The show series’ corresponds with the books so you can watch season 1 after you’ve read book 1 and so on. Go. Pick it up. Read.

The Door // So boring! I literally almost gave up on it but didn’t because I was reading it for book club. I felt like it droned and droned, could not wait to get through this.

The Guest Room // For the most part, this was an ok book. It was a really quick read, I liked the multiple points of view, but it just fell flat for me. It wasn’t gripping even though the story line was interesting.

Voyager // The third book in the series, it’s been my favorite besides the first so far {I’m on book five now}. If you’re going to read the series, I don’t want to say much, but since there’s 8 books, it should be pretty obvious that Jamie and Claire continue on. This one focuses mostly on Claire, 20 years after Culloden, with her grown daughter, searching through the past for snippets trying to find Jamie. The flashbacks are of Jamie post-Culloden and what his life is like without Claire. I cried. Tons. I love it. It’s heart-wrenching and the love between the two of them basically jumps off of the pages. I can’t get enough of these two.
